Gossamer has released images of their design for a 17.8 kilometer stretch of waterfront along the Jing River in Xi’an, China.
The Gossamer led consortium was invited as one of seven teams to participate in the international competition for Xi’an’s plans for an ambitious new city.
As one of the eight great rivers of Xi’an, Jing River encompasses the Xi Xian New City as well as numerous other landmark and historical precincts along its length. Over the last few decades, the river corridor faced significant erosion from flooding and environmental degradation from industry and urbanisation. Key objectives include long term ecological restoration, flood mitigation and cultural preservation. The project aims to restore and enhance ecology as well as celebrating the city’s vibrant culture.
